Would you be interested in a workshop on putting together a burlesque act?

I’m currently in Flying Arts’s workshop about planning & facilitating arts workshops.(yes, it did get meta a few times.)

I’m often asked to flesh out ideas for burlesque routines - people have a spark but are not sure where to go with it. Ideas come easy to me, so I figured what may be handy would be to distil & share my methods.

Originally I was - and still will be - going to write blog posts about it; there’s one in process that’s holiday-themed. as an experiential learner I would like some hands-on experience too.

Topics: - building routines from a song, person, pop culture reference, theme, topic, talent, personal experience, etc - filling out your acts with the other stuff - music, props, costume, movement, patter, etc - working with restrictions - stage size, resources, budget, time, ability - things to do & not do

at the end everyone has at least one act they can keep working on, and perhaps even a chance to perform them.

it wouldn’t go too far into specific choreography or special skills - it’s mostly geared at beginners, dabblers, those who don’t really do neo-burlesque, and people who want to come up with something for their college dancefest or office party. It’s fun, informal, encourages creativity, and has plenty of transferable skills.
