Hey everyone,

It’s really heavily flooding in Brisbane as you may know. I’m safe - I’m at a friend’s house and they’re not affected by the flood, and we’ve got enough to last us for a week. My apartment would have been OK too, but as I’m right next to the river there’s a likelihood that I’d have been isolated, hence the move.

It’s apparently worse than the 1974 floods. I’ve lived through bad floods before (Johor had the worst floods in 100 years in 2006, now I feel bad for having pushed it over to Brissy!!) though not until now had I had to seriously think about emergency measures. My brain can only really process one crisis at a time, and bad weather makes me gloomy anyway, so I am rather worried about my mental state. But hopefully I can make it through the week intact and ready to move on.

Plenty of people aren’t as lucky as I am though - lost lives, lost property, lost livelihood. The generousity demonstrated has been immense, but we need all the help we can get. Please donate to the Queensland floods disaster relief fund - every dollar helps.
